In addition to preparing you for "Google Me" having a profile page will increase your "Google Juice", a term Jeff Jarvis coined for improving your searchability. - Curate Your Contacts. No matter the email program you use Google will surely use your contacts to help you get connected to friends, associates and family.Spend some time curating your contacts: cleanup contacts, add people you find missing and remove/merge duplicates.
- Tell all of your friends to follow these same steps. After all you can't have a social network without them.
- (Optional) Sign up for GMail

Google created Orkut years ago as a place for people to connect and share photos and other information with their social network. Those already using Orkut will have a leg up when starting to connect using “Google Me”.
